Searching for the poet
By Keith Beasley
From deeper, much deeper, down
Beyond the whinging, the pathetic, moans
From deeper, MUCH deeper, within
Beyond the superficial "I feel . . ."
From not my head, my mind
From not my selfish sulking
From not my ego, cocky
But from heart, from soul
With spirit
From not my own little feelings
But from deeper within
From where few dare to go
Except the best
Poets, Painters, Authors
Artists of all forms
And all creative genii
Connect. Connect!
It's not mud in the mind or treacle
It's only fear
Of finding truth.

'BE it' says Ted
Put yourself in it's place
KNOW what your poem is about
REALLY about
This poem is about me
Me. Finding my truth.
Can I be a poet? Can I be ME?
Same answer:
Not by defining it. Not by describing it.
Not by talking about it.
Mmmm. See above!
III
Me.
The child Keith, Keif
Overprotected
Happy . . . in a limited way
Me
The school kid Biscuit, Baz
Educated
To think . . . rationally, conventionally
Me
The working man, K.Beasley C.Eng, FIQA
Enabling me to own, to travel
And thus to explore, the world, me
Me
The performing man, Tigger
Finding song, dance, voice, movement
To express, to live
Me
The healer, the guide: Reiki Master
Learning through teaching
About energy, light . . . love
Me
The partner, The Owl
Growing
Attempting to love another
Me
A breath, a heart beat
Flowing blood, energy
Me
A soul, spirit, Paschat?
Of this earth, of . . . what!?
Me
All these facets . . . and more
Past and present
One me?
Many me's
One humanity
Many humanities
One love
Many loves.
inspired by the film 'Sylvia'.

So, what IS this poem about? Me . . . trying to find out who and what I am and where I'm going. There is no answer. Except perhaps 'everywhere and nowhere'.
